Introducing Edu Sports FC
Nicknamed ‘The Immortals’, the club won their place in the competition after coming through a preliminary round tie against African All Stars, who compete a division above them.
The club are the second fourth-tier side to complete in the Nedbank Cup Last 32 in 2015 along with Northern Cape side Mainstay United.
The side is based in Soshanguve, 25-kilometres north of Pretoria and an area known for producing some of South Africa’s top musicians.
They already knew before their preliminary round fixture that the winner would face Kaizer Chiefs in the Last 32, leading to over a thousand spectators coming to the game,
This shows the incredible support the side has in the local community as they continue to grow their brand with some stunning performances in the league.
Edu Sports are hoping to become the first fourth-tier side to make it through to the second round of the Nedbank Cup since BTX Liverpool managed the feat in the 2011 tournament.
Against a side of the calibre of Kaizer Chiefs, were they to do so it would be the biggest cup upset in the history of South African football.
