Introducing Roses United

Roses United campaign in the Free State ABC Motsepe League having previously spent two years in the National First Division between 2012 and 2014.

The club, which has close ties to Bloemfontein Celtic, were formed in 2009 and in their first season qualified for the third-tier national playoffs.

They had to wait until 2012 to win promotion though and after finishing 10th in their first season, were relegated at the end of the last campaign.

The team reached the Nedbank Cup Last 32 this year after a preliminary round victory over North West Shining Stars to make their second appearance at this stage of the competition.

Their first entry was in 2012 as a third-tier side when they defeated Polokwane City 2-0 before being edged 1-0 by Santos in the second round.

Coincidentally, the club lost both of their preliminary round matches as NFD team to United FC (now GaRankuwa), both by 2-1 scorelines.

The club’s vision is very clear and a role that they are already fulfilling:

“We foresee that in the near future, the Free State Province will have four or five professional teams due to the vast talent and experience we have in this province. Roses United will without a doubt play a prominent role in unearthing and developing the raw talent of our local players and administrators.”

The likes of current Celtic stars Lerato Lamola and Jacky Motshegwa have come through the Roses system, along with Moroka Swallows striker Vuyisile Wana.
