TS Galaxy made a winning start to the new year after they convincingly beat Marumo Gallants 2-0 at the Mbombela Stadium on Wednesday, January 21.

Second half goals from substitutes Mory Keita and Victor Letsoalo extended the Rockets' unbeaten run in the Betway Premiership to four matches as they moved up to fifth place, three points outside the CAF continental berths.

Adnan Beganovic's side were looking to strengthen their position in the top eight, having gone undefeated in their final three games of 2025 and playing out to a 0-0 draw with Kaizer Chiefs most recently.

Gallants ended last year on a four-match winless streak which left them in a three-way tie with Golden Arrows (10th) and Siwelele (12th) in 11th place. Their last result was a 1-1 draw with Magesi.

Both teams had their chances in the first half, with the visitors threatening first through Msindisi Ndlovu, whose shot flew just wide from the edge of the box before Mpho Mvelase dragged an effort wide at the other end of the pitch.

Junior Zindonga proved wasteful when he steered a low cross wide of the goal following a Galaxy counter-attack just before the break, while Mvelase and Letsoalo both went close with attempts that struck the frame of the goal after the restart.

However, the hosts eventually made the breakthrough on 57 minutes after Kagiso Mlambo brought down Zindonga inside the 18-yard area and Keita stepped up to convert the subsequent penalty.

Zindonga had a hand in their second goal too just 10 minutes later when he picked out Letsoalo with a low cross and the striker tucked his shot past Mlambo to double the Rockets' advantage.

Zindonga almost added a third late on with a curling effort that was expertly tipped over by Mlambo, who was filling in for the suspended Washington Arubi.
