Red-hot Pirates secure hat-trick of wins at Chippa

Orlando Pirates made it three wins in a row in the Betway Premiership when they thrashed Chippa United 3-0 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Therefore, the Buccaneers climbed up to the fifth spot in the standings, heading into the Fifa international break. Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou will be preparing his side for the 2025 MTN8 final in Nelspruit, where they lock horns with Stellenbosch FC on September 13.
The Chilli Boys, on the other hand, remained rooted at the bottom of the standings and winless, having lost three out of their four matches. Coach Luc Eymael will have the opportunity to work with his team during the Fifa break, as they prepare to take on Orbit College on September 17 in a league game
The Chilli Boys were under pressure from the first whistle as the Buccaneers pressed the hosts' defence. Stanley Nwabali's poor pass was intercepted by Kamogelo Sebelebele and Evidence Makgopa set up Patrick Maswanganyi, who made it 1-0 to Pirates in the 10th minute.
The visitors doubled their lead three minutes before half-time as Oswin Appollis pounced onto a loose ball in Chippa's half and set up Deon Hotto, who beat goalkeeper Nwabali at the near post and Pirates were deservedly leading 2-0 at half-time, having dominated the first-half.
Pirates exerted more pressure on the home side after the restart and they were awarded a penalty after Makgopa was fouled in the box. Maswanganyi stepped up, hoping to grab his brace, but the Bafana Bafana international was denied by Nigeria's No 1 Nwabali in the 50th minute.
However, Nwabali was beaten for the third time on the day, six minutes after the hour mark. Eventual Man of the Match Appollis grabbed his second assist of the match after his pass found substitute Tshepang Moremi, who scored with a hard and low shot, and Pirates claimed a 3-0 win on the day.
