PSL statement on the sad passing of Sinamandla Zondi

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) received the devastating news of the passing of Durban City Football Club player Sinamandla Zondi, late yesterday.

Affectionately known as “Sgora”, Zondi was due to feature in a Motsepe Foundation Championship fixture against Milford United FC at Chatsworth Stadium, scheduled for 19h30.

According to the information provided to the League:

1. Shortly before the match began, Sinamandla collapsed and was immediately attended to by medical personnel on site.

2. Given the seriousness of his condition, he was rushed to Chatsmed Garden Hospital.

3. Sadly, he passed away at the hospital shortly before 20h00.

Upon confirmation of the tragic news, last night’s match was suspended. The club was offered an opportunity to postpone their upcoming match, but they have opted to play their scheduled fixture this Friday.

The PSL extends its heartfelt condolences to the Zondi family, his loved ones, and everyone at Durban City Football Club during this profoundly difficult time.

In honour of his memory, a moment of silence will be observed at all Motsepe Foundation Championship, Betway Premiership and DStv Diski Challenge fixtures this week.

May his soul repose peacefully.
