Bucs back in MDC hunt

Orlando Pirates' MultiChoice Diski Challenge title charge is back on track after an impressive 2-0 victory over in-form Ajax Cape Town.

In one of the two games played at the Tsakane Stadium on Saturday afternoon, the Buccaneers proved to the more clinical of the two sides on the day.

Former Free State Stars defender Justice Chabalala handed the Soweto giants the lead with a glancing header mid-way through the first-half and Grant Peter's 92nd-minute header sealed the points.

The young Ajax side, who lacked composure in front of goal against the more experienced Sea Robbers, dropped down to seventh place with their second defeat of the season - while Rayaan Jacobs' side moved up to fifth.

Both teams have won three and lost two, but goal difference separates the sides on the table.

In the other fixture played at the same venue, Baroka's early-season form continued with an impressive 1-0 win over Cape Town City.

Rethabile Soso's first-half goal proved to the only goal of the game as Bakgaga moved into fourth place - while the Citizens dropped to eighth.

Golden Arrows, who've impressed early on in the campaign, put a dent in Free State Stars' momentum with a 2-0 victory at the Princess Magogo Stadium.

A goal in each half from Sibusiso Sibeko and Sanele Mathenjwa respectively handed Ea Lla Koto their second defeat of the season.

And in the other games of the day; Amazulu and Chippa United played to a 1-1 draw, while last seasons runners-up Bloemfontein Celtic eased past Platinum Stars by three goals to one at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

Usuthu and Dikwena have yet to register a win this campaign.
