Usuthu's new signings impress Johnson

AmaZulu FC head coach Cavin Johnson says the current FIFA international break has given him the opportunity to assess the club’s new signings.

“The FIFA break has given us the opportunity to look at the players and for them to gel better and to put them through different areas. And also make sure that they are ready,” Johnson told AmaZulufc.net.

“We also have to make sure that they understand what we are looking for going forward as AmaZulu.

Usuthu defeated National First Division (NFD) outfit Real Kings and ABC Motsepe side Summerfield Dynamos in friendly matches during the break.

The club’s new signings, Michael Morton, Mhlengi Cele, Rhulani Manzini, Skhumbuzo Mazibuko, Sedate Ouro-Akoriko and Somila Ntsundwana all scored for Usuthu during the friendly games.

“We have arranged two or three friendlies now in the off time and I must say they have really put in the shift in the friendlies and they did a good job,” the 58-year-old tactician continued.

“The structure of the team looks like it’s coming together slowly and we are able to identify who’s who and who can play where in the team.

“We are confident going forward and hopefully we’re able to maintain the momentum we had in this short mini pre-season break.”

Johnson will be hoping that his charges continue their scoring form when AmaZulu take on Maritzburg United in an Absa Premiership on 12 September 2017.

The KwaZulu-Natal Derby is scheduled to take place at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban. Kick-off is at 19h30.
