NFD: Weekend match wrap

There was just one match in the National First Division on Sunday after inclement weather lead to the abandonment of the other game.

This came after an impressive schedule on Saturday when 20 goals were scored across six matches, including eight alone coming in Pietermaritzburg where Royal Eagles humbled Cape Town All Stars.

Santos 1-2 Black Leopards

The Limpopo club claimed their first win of the season at the expense of the hosts. New signing Mwape Musonda opened the scoring for Lidoda Duvha, before Tyren Arendse levelled for the Capetonians at Parow Park. Morgan Shivambu then netted the winner on the hour mark to lift the visitors out of the relegation zone.

Thanda Royal Zulu P-P Witbank Spurs

The clash scheduled for the Umhlathuze Sports Complex in Richards Bay was abandoned. The referee cancelled proceedings due to a waterlogged field and therefore deemed the pitch unsafe and unplayable. The PSL will communicate future dates, kick-off times in due course.

Mthatha Bucks 2-2 AmaZulu

In matches played on Saturday, Mthatha Bucks made a blistering start in front of a full house, Mashale Rantabane smashing home Ayanda Klaas's cross and Khotso Mokhele also scoring by the time 20 minutes had been played.

But Usuthu hit back with second half goals from substitutes Spheshile Nzimande and Nkanyiso Zungu to earn a point.

Milano United 2-1 Jomo Cosmos

After a goal-less first half in Parow, goals from Gregory Roelf on 47 and 68 minutes put the Kinnes ahead. Nkanyiso Madonsela netted for Cosmos on 70 minutes, but the home team hung on for their first points of the season.

Magesi FC 0 - Stellenbosch FC 2 (Gertse 2' Koapeng 60')

Stellenbosch picked up their first points of the season as well, a second minute goal from Nathan Gertse and a goal on the hour mark from Letsi Koapeng earning victory up in the Limpopo.

Kings United 2-1 Mbombela United

After two draws in their opening two matches, Kings notched their first ever win in the NFD. Phumlani Gumede (37th minute) and Lindokuhle Mtshali (55th minute) put the KZN side 2-0 up before Clifford Mulenga pulled one back 17 minutes from time.

Eagles 6-2 All Stars

Eagles took a 2-1 lead into the break in Pietermaritzburg, thanks to a brace by Raymond Monama, while Mlu Mbunjana scored for Igugu Lekapa. Philani Cele, Siyanda Ngubo (2) and Phumelele Bhengu all added to Stars' misery in the second half, the visiting side getting on the score sheet through Sibusiso Hlubi's penalty.

AmaTuks 0-0 FC Cape Town

The Tshwane side dropped their first points of the season, while the African Beasts claimed their second point of the campaign.
