The 2026/27 Carling Knockout Cup Round of 16 got underway in thrilling fashion this past weekend, with Golden Arrows, Siwelele FC, AmaZulu FC, and Sekhukhune United securing their places in the quarterfinals.

Golden Arrows made an emphatic start to the competition on Saturday, cruising to a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Chippa United. Goals from Siyanda Dion, Sabelo Sithole, Nhlanhla Zwane and Keenan Karelse sealed a dominant performance and ensured Abafana Bes’thende progressed in style.

Siwelele FC also booked their quarterfinal berth after overcoming Polokwane City in a tense encounter at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium. With neither side able to find a breakthrough during regulation time, the match was decided by penalties, where Siwelele held their nerve to claim a 4-3 shootout victory following a goalless draw.

Sunday’s action saw AmaZulu FC continue their impressive run of form with a hard-earned 1-0 win over Kruger United. Hendrick Ekstein proved the difference, calmly converting a penalty in the 78th minute to send Usuthu into the last eight.

Sekhukhune United completed the weekend’s fixtures with a convincing 3-1 triumph over Richards Bay. Chibuike Ohizu, Thabang Makubo and Bethuel Muzeu found the back of the net for Babina Noko, while Nqaba Xulu scored a late consolation for the visitors.

Attention now turns to the remaining Round of 16 fixtures, which will be played later this week as teams continue their quest for Carling Knockout glory and the final quarterfinal places.
