Following yet another enthralling weekend in the Betway Premiership, Orlando Pirates leapfrogged Mamelodi Sundowns to the top of the pile, while TS Galaxy extended their barren run of results.

The Buccaneers made the most of Sundowns’ absence in the Betway Premiership on Saturday, following a convincing 3-0 win against AmaZulu at the Orlando Amstel Arena.

After goals by Yanela Mbuthuma, Oswin Appollis and Relebohile Mofokeng, Pirates reclaimed top spot by two points, albeit momentarily, as the Brazilians have two games in hand at their disposal.

Richards Bay claimed a 1-0 win over TS Galaxy at the Mbombela Stadium on Sunday afternoon, as the Natal Rich Boyz got back to winning ways in the league. As a result, Richards Bay ended the weekend in 10th position on 30 points, four points away from the top eight.

The Rockets on the other hand, suffered their fourth straight defeat in the league, recording 25 points from 25 games in 12th position.

In the province of Limpopo, third placed Kaizer Chiefs and Polokwane City settled for a 0-0 draw at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Glamour Boys thus saw their five-match winning streak come to an end, while Rise and Shine recorded two draws on the spin in seventh.

Nonetheless, Chiefs will carry 49 points into their next encounter against Orlando Pirates, while boasting a seven-point cushion in the CAF Confederation Cup position.

Elsewhere, Magesi were the biggest winners in the league this weekend following a crucial 5-2 win over Durban City at the Seshego Stadium on Sunday.

Dikwena tsa Meetse thus moved out of the bottom three to 14th on the log, level on points with 15th placed Marumo Gallants with the added benefit of a superior goal difference.
