Golden Arrows boosted their top-eight prospects with a 2-1 win over relegation-threatened Orbit College at Olympia Park on Saturday, April 18.

Three goals in the space of 10 second-half minutes saw the Betway Premiership's top scorer, Junior Dion, break the deadlock before Ben Motshwari equalised moments later, only for Khulekani Shezi to restore Abafana Bes'thende's lead soon afterwards.

Manqoba Mngqithi's side moved up one place to seventh in the standings, three points clear of Stellenbosch, who ran out 3-1 victors over Sekhukhune United on Friday, April 17 to briefly climb into the top eight but have now dropped back down to ninth.

The Mswenko Boyz were looking to snap a four-match winless run which left them perilously close to the foot of the table, while Arrows went in search of their third victory in four games, having beaten Durban City 1-0 most recently last weekend.

Orbit College made a bright start as Mbulelo Wagaba had two sniffs at goal in the opening stages, steering a header inches over the crossbar from a corner before missing the target once more after linking up with Gomolemo Khoto.

Dion then threatened with a header of his own moments later that forced Sekhoane Moerane into a save, although the action died down following that frenetic start.

Ayanda Jiyane wasted a good opportunity to put Pogiso Makhoye's side ahead just before halftime when he got his header all wrong from a corner.

It was the visitors who drew first blood 13 minutes into the second half as Dion latched onto a pass from Siyanda Ndlovu and slotted home his 14th goal of the season.

Their lead lasted just two minutes, however, when Motshwari got the Rustenburg outfit back into the contest with his first goal for the club.

But Arrows responded in kind 10 minutes later with a clinical finish from Shezi inside the box after being picked out by Mfanuvela Mafuleka.

Lungelo Nguse had a chance to seal the win in the closing stages, although he failed to test Moerane with a header after getting on the end of a corner-kick.
