Midweek bonanza in the Betway Premiership

From top-of-the-table clashes to battles with relegation ramifications, multiple teams face one another in fierce midweek action in the Betway Premiership this week.
Four fixtures take place on Tuesday evening, followed by three games on Wednesday. All games kick-off at 7:30pm CAT, live coverage on SuperSport and score updates via @OfficialPSL on X.
The week’s action begins with clashes of the high flyers on Tuesday as league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns search for their second victory over AmaZulu FC this season, while third-place Stellenbosch FC welcome second-place Orlando Pirates to Athlone Stadium.
Mamelodi Sundowns v AmaZulu
AmaZulu are unbeaten in their last three Betway Premiership games and sit sixth on the log, only one point behind third place.
Sundowns, who beat Usuthu 1-0 in the reverse fixture on 24 December, will be looking to extend their 15-point lead at the top of the table.
Stellenbosch v Orlando Pirates
Steve Barker’s Stellenbosch have stabilised after a shaky start to the season and are unbeaten in their last five league games. Barker’s aim for his side is a top three finish, ensuring continental competition for a second consecutive season.
Pirates, who have played four less league games than Sundowns, will want to put pressure on the reigning champions with a win in the Western Cape and keep Stellies at arm’s length on the log.
TS Galaxy v SuperSport United
TS Galaxy have only won two of their nine league meetings with SuperSport United since the 2020/21 season, and lost 1-0 away from home against Matsatsantsa earlier this season. Currently sitting in seventh place, The Rockets could move into continental contention with a victory at home, provided the sides above them stumble.
SuperSport United have only managed 21 points from their 20 games so far this season and sit dangerously close to the relegation zone, with just four points separating them and Magesi FC in second-last place. Matsatsantsa will look to build on an impressive Nedbank Cup performance that saw them hold the Buccaneers level at 2-2 before losing on penalties.
Magesi FC v Richards Bay
With only four wins and 12 losses in the Betway Premiership so far this season, Magesi FC have been unable to escape the relegation zone. They have only played Richards Bay once in the top flight, which ended in a goalless stalemate.
Richards Bay have enjoyed a recent resurgence and are unbeaten in their last six Betway Prem games. Their last loss came at the hands of Cape Town City on 17 January, and they sit seven points off a spot in the top eight. The goal will be qualifying for next season’s MTN8 competition.
Kaizer Chiefs v Cape Town City
Sitting in eighth place on the table, Kaizer Chiefs have looked far from their teams of old this season. Amakhosi have both eight wins and losses this season and have conceded two more goals than they have scored.
Cape Town City coach Muhsin Ertugral has had a tough time since taking the reins in January. The Citizens have only managed three wins in 11 Betway Premiership games in 2025 and will be itching to snap their seven-game winless streak.
Polokwane City v Golden Arrows
With 10 points separating the two sides, Polokwane City and Golden Arrows will both be hunting three precious points, albeit for different reasons. Polokwane City are tied on points with third place Stellenbosch and are on the cusp of qualifying for continental football next season.
Golden Arrows sit seven points behind eighth place and will be pushing for MTN8 qualification. The last Betway Premiership clash between the two sides ended in a 0-0 draw, but Arrows have historically dominated the fixture.
Marumo Gallants v Sekhukhune United
New Marumo Gallants manager Abdeslam Ouaddou has stated that first priority is keeping his side in the Betway Premiership. Bahlabane Ba Ntwa are just two points above the relegation zone. A home win against Sekhukhune United is not only essential to their survival, but would surely be a much needed confidence booster.
Sitting level on points with Stellenboech FC, Sekhukhune United are behind on goal difference alone. Babina Noko have lost their last two league games, after winning the two preceding them. They will look to get back to winning ways against the struggling Gallants.
