Telkom raises stakes with R250 000 prize money

There’s awesome prizes and exciting action to look forward to as the battle for the coveted Telkom Knockout trophy intensifies with semi-final matches on the way.
Telkom are taking things up a notch with a cash prize of R250 000 for one lucky supporter who enters the consumer competition that has given fans a chance to enjoy the feeling of 0% heartbreak and 100% winning.
By simply purchasing a bundle from a Telkom sim card, supporters automatically receive a chance to win the prize money and their bundle is multiplied by the combined number of goals in the highest scoring game in the semi-finals. In the quarterfinals, Nomathamsanqa Ngcobo won herself R150 000, after Sibongile Mthembu claimed the R100 000 prize in the last 16.
Nomathamsanqa’s club Orlando Pirates has been knocked out of the competition, but she is smiling all the way to the bank, so it’s 0% heartbreak and 100% winnings. She said the prize money will help her make a difference in her family. “I am ecstatic and I am shocked as well. This is my first time winning something in any competition. It came at the right time because it will assist me with paying for my younger sister’s university. I also want to fix my mom’s house, spoil myself a little and invest,” Nomathamsanqa said. “I am a big soccer fan, a Pirates fan for that matter. This competition is great for people who need the finances to achieve their dreams."
Supporters can nominate a school of their choice to stand a chance to win football kit and equipment worth R50 000, by simply dialing 33927. Both the fan competition and the school nominations will close on 30 November.
Tickets for the semi-finals are on sale at Ticketpro outlets, which include Edgars, CNA, Postnet and Jet stores. Supporters can also purchase tickets online at www.ticketpro.co.za. Tickets cost R40 for adults and R15 for children under the age of 12.
Fans can also look forward to roadshows in Tembisa and Polokwane before the semi-finals. On Friday, 17 November, Telkom will paint Tembisa blue, giving supporters of the beautiful game a chance to double their bundle purchases. There’s also a great opportunity to win tickets and meet legends such as Phumudzo Manenzhe, Thabo September and Siphiwe Mkhonza. On Saturday, 18 November, the three legends will head to Polokwane to give supporters an exciting opportunity to win tickets and double their bundle purchases. Bidvest Wits will take on Kaizer Chiefs in the first semi-final at Bidvest Stadium on Saturday at 15h30, with both sides looking to reach the final to end the year on a high.
Polokwane City have made their way into the semi-final of the Telkom Knockout for the first time in their history and will host former champions Bloemfontein Celtic at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday at 15h30.
