The game looked to be heading for a goalless draw but Prince Nxumalo had other ideas and in the end, Babina Noko walked away with all three points. Victory moved Sekhukhune back up to fifth spot on the league standings while Swallows fell down to 13th, having now failed to win in nine league matches.

Both teams showed a lot of intent in the opening exchanges and Sekhukhune went close through Cheslyn Jampies in the 14th minute. The left-back created space for himself before watching his cross-cum-shot brush the top of the crossbar from an acute angle.

Swallows kicked into gear before the half-hour mark and Toaster Nsabata had to be at his best to keep out Ruzaigh Gamildien and Kagiso Malinga in quick succession; as the hosts aimed to break their goal drought.

The tempo died down after the interval forcing both coaches to make a string of substitutions around the hour mark.

But still a goal didn't look forthcoming, until second-half substitute Nxumalo popped up with a killer blow in the 91st minute of the match.

Victory for Babina Noko comes as a timely boost before the international break, while defeat will crank up the pressure on Birds head coach Brandon Truter whose team have only scored two goals all season.
