Goals galore as Diski Rewired roars into action

A whopping 26 goals were scored as the DStv Diski Challenge Rewired returned from three months break on Saturday.

Cape Town City and TS Galaxy were involved in a seven goals thriller in a game at Tsakane Stadium.

Jared Van Der Burg scored twice in the match to help his side get maximum points in their stream one, which consists of AmaZulu, Chippa United, Lamontville Golden Arrows, Maritzburg United, Stellenbosch, SuperSport United, and Galaxy.

At Harry Gwala Stadium, Maritzburg was also another big winner defeating Chippa United 4-2. It was a match of two halves as Maritzburg went to the halftime break leading by three goals.

In the second half, the Chilli Boys came back more robust as they managed to score two goals, but that was not enough to earn them something.

In-stream two, Mamelodi Sundowns hammered Bloemfontein Celtic 4-1.

The highly anticipated fixture of the weekend between Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates was not a dull encounter as it also produced goals.

Pirates claimed the derby bragging right as they thumped Amakhosi 2-0 at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto.

Boitumelo Radiopane was the star of the show as he scored an impressive brace which handed the Buccaneers maximum points.

The first half of the game did not produce any goals. Radiopane broke the deadlock for Pirates in the 49th minute of the match with a glancing header. Chiefs pressed as they were searching for an equaliser, but they were not clinical enough. Radiopane completed his brace in the dying minutes of the game.

In the streams, each team will face the other once, with the top two teams from Stream 1 advancing through to face the top two teams in Stream 2 in once-off semifinals, with the winners squaring off in the final to determine the champions.
