Tsakane Diski Festival uses football to spread anti-crime message in Ekurhuleni

This weekend’s MultiChoice Diski Challenge in Tsakane township will be yet another opportunity for football to use its platform to spread the message of crime prevention and mobilizing the youth to use sport as an alternative.

Top flight football will make a return to Ekurhuleni for the last festival in 2018 of the MultiChoice Diski Challenge (PSL Reserve League) at Tsakane Stadium this coming weekend. The festival will be played on Saturday, 01 December and Sunday, 02 December 2018.

However, formal proceedings will begin on Friday when the SAPS and PSL host an anti-crime dialogue on Friday, 30 November from 10:00 until 14:00. This dialogue will take place at Umndeni Fellowship Christian Centre (Tsakane).

The move to take this weekend’s festival to Tsakane is in line with the PSL, MultiChoice and South African Police Service in fighting crime through sports initiatives.

The purpose of this initiative is to foster close relations, promote social cohesion in the community and roll out the Junior Commissioner Project.

The Junior Commissioner Project provides an opportunity to invest in young people and also empower the youth to inculcate leadership, mentorship as well as moral and ethical values.
