Jomo Cosmos and Black Leopards drew 2-2 in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) promotional/relegation play-offs match at the Vosloorus Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The draw sees Ezenkosi move to second place on the play-offs standings, while Lidoda Duvha remain at the top of the table.

Lidoda Duvha began the match brightly and they nearly grabbed an early lead through their targetman Mwape Musonda eight minutes into encounter.

The Zambian marksman burst into the box, before unleashing a low shot which was easily saved by Cosmos goalkeeper Kgosietsile Ndlovu.

However, Musonda, who is a former Orlando Pirates striker, was not to be denied four minutes later after the Ezenkosi defence has failed to clear their lines.

The tall striker pounced on to a loose back and he fired past Ndlovu to make it 1-0 to Leopards - stunning the Cosmos supporters into silence in the process.

However, Lidoda Duvha’s lead only lasted for five minutes as a howler from Leopards keeps Rotshidzwa Muleka made it 1-1 with the goal-minder failing to handle the ball.

Cosmos then pushed forward in numbers in search of their second goal and they were awarded a free-kick in a promising area after Raymond Sibeko was fouled.

Denzil Haoseb, the Cosmos midfielder,then stepped up and fired just over the crossbar from the set-piece two minutes after the half-hour mark.

Leopards were able to contain Cosmos until the match referee Victor Gomes blew the halftime whistle with the two teams locked at 1-1.

The visitors were the better side in the opening stages of the second half and they nearly restored their lead a minute after the restart.

Leopards attacking midfielder Mechack Maphangule set-up Karabo Tshepe, whose low shot was brilliantly saved by Ndlovu at the near-post.

Lidoda Duvha did restore their lead in the 62nd minute when Tshepe found Musonda, who grabbed his brace with a low shot to make it 2-1 to the visitors.

Ezenkosi nearly responded with a goal two minutes later when Haoseb pulled the trigger from range and Muleka produced a fine save to deny the Namibia international.

Joel Masutha’s side then sat back and they allowed Cosmos to attack them, but Leopards were dangerous on the counter attack with Musonda leading their attack.

The bulky marksman had a chance to grab his hat-trick in the 79th minute against the run of play, but he was denied Ndlovu from close range.

Cosmos never lost hope as they pushed forward in numbers in the closing stages of the game and they managed to grab a late equalizer.

Clifford Mulenga whipped a cross into the Leopards box and Cosmos defender Thato Lingwati headed home to ensure that the game ended in a 2-2 stalemate in stoppage time.
