Arrows beat Pirates to clinch MDC title

Golden Arrows claimed a 2-0 victory over Orlando Pirates on Sunday to secure the 2017/18 MultiChoice Diski Challenge title for the second time.
The two sides remained level at 0-0 until the halftime break, but it was Abafana Bes'thende who took the lead in the 74th minute when Nduduzo Sibiya converted a penalty.
Arrows held on to their fragile lead at the Makhulong Stadium before the result and title were secured in the 89th minute with Sibiya netting his second goal of the game. With only one game left in the season, champions Arrows are four point clear of Bloemfontein Celtic, while Maritzburg United could also still finish as runners-up.This is the first time in MDC history that a team have claimed a second title.
SUNDOWNS DOMINATE FREE STATE
Vuyo Mantjie put the Brazilians in the lead early, and Keabetswa Mokwena doubled the advantage, before Dylon Peterson reduced the deficit for Stars. Sundowns were 2-1 ahead at the break, but they soon ran away with it as Cassius Mailula scored in the 47th minute before Mokwena completed his brace for a 4-1 lead. Mailula bagged his second goal in the 69th minute to open a four-goal lead over Stars. Jason Abrahams netted a consolation penalty in the 90th minute as the game ended 5-2. Elsewhere, Bidvest Wits put the Ajax Cape Town side to the sword at Sturrock Park, scoring five goals to the Urban Warriors one. Bloemfontein Celtic were also on fire in front of goal as they decimated Cape Town City 4-0 at Parow Park to move up to second in the standings.
