Former Orlando Pirates playmaker Sello Japhta who's been vocal about his determination to return to the form that earned him to the Buccaneers put Stars ahead ten minutes into the second-half with a fine finish.

And a minute before time, the points were sealed when Kholofelo Mafolo put the ball beyond his own goalkeeper for a 3-1 scoreline.

In the early kick-off on Sunday, Amazulu missed a real chance to grab their first win of the season as a late equaliser from Polokwane City saw the fixture end in a 1-1 draw.

After a goalless opening half at the King Zwelithini Stadium, former Ajax youth product Zaakir Williams produced a pin-point cross from a corner kick to find Aubrey Ndukwane - who made no mistake with his header in the 73rd minute.
