Pirates end Diski campaign off in style

Orlando Pirates managed to end off their Multichoice Diski season in emphatic fashion with a 4-1 win over Platinum Stars at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

Grant Peters got the scoring under way as early as the seventh minute when he was brought down in the area, before stepping up to slot home the subsequent spot-kick.

Highly rated defender Katlego Khunou got the home side back on level terms mid-way through the first-half but centre-back Brian Hlongwa made sure the Buccaneers went into the break with the lead, making it 2-1 on the brink of halftime.

In the second half, the Soweto giants received another penalty, with star midfielder Yusuf Maart having the duty of doubling his side's advantage, 12 minutes from time.

With the 3-1 scoreline going into the final moments of the game, the Sea Robbers turned on the style and were rewarded for their attacking intent when Michael Mabule put the ball into his own net making it 4-1, for the final-score.

The win puts Pirates in eight place at the end of the season, while Dikwena finish in 13th place.
