Losper, Isaacs help Ajax win v United

First-half goals from Toriq Losper and Erwin Isaacs helped Ajax Cape Town to a 2-1 win over SuperSport United at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday evening.

Thuso Phala pulled a goal back for Matsatsantsa before the hour mark but despite their best efforts SuperSport failed found the equalizer as Ajax held on successfully to climb up to fifth spot on the Absa Premieship log standings.

Michael Morton, Sibusiso Khumalo and Thabo September returned to the starting eleven for the hosts as the aimed to batten down the hatches after conceding five against relegation threatened AmaZulu.

Roger De Sa meanwhile included Nathan Paulse from the onset after he impressed for the Urban Warriors in their defeat at Kaizer Chiefs in midweek.

Eager to keep a clean sheet, Gordon Igesund was left frustrated as Ajax took the lead with a mere seven minutes on the clock. A mistake from Morton let Losper in on goal, the midfielder making no mistake to hand the visitors an early lead.

Things went from bad to worse for the home side as Isaacs doubled Ajax's advantage a minute before the half-hour mark.

The on-loan attacker rounding Ronwen Williams before slotting the ball into the back of the net for his second goal in three games.

In an attempt to get his team back into the game Igesund introduced Bradley Grobler and David Mathebula in the 33rd minute with Kingston Nkhatha sitting out the encounter due to injury.

Grobler and Clayton Daniels saw their respective efforts fly wide of Anssi Jaakkola's goal as Matsatsantsa finished the first-half with a flourish.

Phala pulled a goal back for SuperSport in the 56th minute. Grobler's cross picked out the Bafana Bafana winger who made no mistake from inside the penalty area.

The goal sparked a succession of chances for SuperSport with Jaakkola doing well to deny the in-form former Platinum Stars man his second three minutes later.

SuperSport continued to push forward with Mathebula notable seeing his effort flash wide of Ajax's goal.

The Urban Warriors though did enough to condemn the Tshwane side to their 10th defeat of the league season.
