Isaacs, Ncube help Ajax win v Chippa United

Ajax Cape Town ended a run of seven league matches without a win when they secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Chippa United at the Cape Town Stadium on Friday night.
After scoring two early first half goals through Milton Ncube and Erwin Isaacs, his first for the club, the Urban Warriors were pretty much in control for the rest of the evening.
Chippa had the first opportunity of the game when some nice interplay down the left flank opened up a shooting chance for Ruben Cloete, but his ninth minute parting shot from the left hand side of the box went wide.
Instead it was the Urban Warriors who were to take a 12th minute lead when Franklin Cale’s free kick was only parried by Mbongeni Mzimela, allowing Ncube an easy tap in from five yards out.
The Urban Warriors doubled their lead just eight minutes later when Isaacs played a one-two with Cale before releasing a scorching drive from 25-yards out which gave Mzimela no chance.
For the most part though, the match lacked quality as both sides gave the ball away too often, while a series of niggling challenges made it a stop-start affair with little in the way of goalmouth action.
The visiting side were able to build some momentum in the closing minutes of the first half, but too often their final passes went astray as Ajax keeper Anssi Jaakkola remained largely untested.
The second half saw the game opening up somewhat, although chances remained at a premium, with the Ajax defence in particular working hard to ensure they maintained their two goal cushion.
The Chilli Boys were able to get a couple of shots in goal 10 minutes into the second half, but Jaakkola was well positioned to keep out two efforts from William Twala.
For their part, Ajax, with their two goal lead, were happy to sit back and absorb the pressure while always keeping a lookout for the possible counter-attack.
With 15 minutes to go, Chippa United striker George Akpabio looked set to score against his former club, but from just inside the box he saw his well struck angled shot gathered by Jaakkola.
There were late chances for Ajax to find a third goal, but Bantu Mzwakali sizzled a shot over the bar before Robin Ngalande sent a lob wide after finding himself clean through on goal and with only Mzimela to beat.
