Larsen targets Telkom success

Bloemfontein Celtic coach, Clinton Larsen is confident that his charges can proceed to the quarterfinals of the Telkom Knockout competition when they meet Jomo Cosmos in the last 16’s.

Larsen admitted that he would have preferred a home draw. “Everybody wants to play at home, unfortunately the draw didn’t come out in our favour, but I can’t say I’m disappointed” Larsen told

“I know it’s going to be a tough game playing against Jomo Cosmos away from home. They are a very difficult side to beat.

The Bloemfontein outfit hopes to improve and make amends for their poor display and performances in Cup football, which has led to them being eliminated in the first round of cup tournaments. Larsen believes they have learned from their past mistakes and will be eager to proceed further in the competition.

“Hopefully we can progress further in this tournament because in the past few tournaments, we have been knocked out in the first round” added the former Manning Rangers midfielder.

The coach has turned things around ever since he joined ‘Siwelele’, but is yet to present the club’s faithful with major silverware. To overcome Cosmos, Larsens knows his side will have to be at their best.

“They are the type of a team that if you allow them play, they got a few players that can hurt you. However, we don’t really look at individuals but the team as a whole and what they got to offer”, he added.
