Kaizer Chiefs sign trio to contract extensions

Kaizer Chiefs have announced one-year extensions for three players, including little-used attacking midfielder Siphelele Ntshangase.

The Soweto giants will also keep goalkeeper Brylon Petersen and versatile defender Philani Zulu until June 2021.

Ntshangase and Petersen have yet to feature in the league this season, while Zulu has made just three appearances in the league.

But with the club facing a transfer ban imposed by Fifa after their signing of Malagasy midfielder Dax, they will be loath to lose any players for fear of not having enough depth next season.

“Foremost, I am emotional about it. I want to thank the chairman [Kaizer Motaung] for this opportunity,” Ntshangase said. “I want to thank everyone involved in seeing that I can still contribute to this immense institution.”

Zulu cut much the same tone.

“All I can do to show gratitude and appreciation is to continue working to the best of my ability. I want to give back to the club. Thank you to the Chairman,” he said.

Petersen hopes to push the three keepers ahead of him, Daniel Akpeyi, Itumeleng Khune and Bruce Bavuma for a place in the match-day squads.

“I'm excited about my contract extension. It gives me a chance to improve further and compete at one of the best clubs on the continent. It is an honour to be here!” he said.
