Free agent Phala will keep on playing

Thuso Phala has not retired from football and will be seeking a new club in the coming months, it has been confirmed.

The former Black Leopards winger was released from the club earlier this month, which led to his mother, prominent football administrator Susan Phala, to suggest that he has retired.

But the 33-year-old, one of the stand-out players in the Premier Soccer league in the last decade, will keep playing, his agent told various media.

Phala emerged as a youngster at what was then Silver Stars in 2006, before later playing for Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns.

He returned to his former club, now called Platinum Stars in 2010, and had three excellent seasons there, before making a successful move to SuperSport United.

He also has 20 Bafana Bafana caps to his name, and netted at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in a 3-1 loss to Algeria.
