Polokwane hold AmaZulu to goalless draw

AmaZulu and Polokwane City played out to a goalless draw in an Absa Premiership fixture at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi on Sunday afternoon.

The result doesn't do Usuthu any favours with the KwaZulu-Natal side still stranded at the foot of the log standings, four points behind their closest rivals and in serious danger.

Rise and Shine remain in seventh spot, having suffered a slight dip in form following a good run of results that fired them up the Premiership table.

The first shot in anger fell to Emiliano Tade in the second minute, with the Argentine forward forcing Harold Ndlovu into a good save from an acute angle.

Both teams showcased a lot of desire in attack, but Tade's early effort is how good it would get for either side before the break with a lot to work to do for the both sets of teams as they headed for the tunnel at the break.

AmaZulu looked the most likely to score and were unlucky not to hit the front in the 68th minute. Bongi Ntuli rose highest from a Marc van Heerden corner-kick, but was unfortunate to see his powering header canon off the crossbar and out of danger.

Rise and Shine finally conjured a noteworthy chance in the 84th minute through second-half substitute Mbulelo Wagaba, but Siyabonga Mbatha was up to the task to deny the visitors.

Usuthu then had a late chance to grab all three points, but with only the goalkeeper to beat ,Ovidy Karuru, failed to find the back of the net as both teams ultimately settled for a point apiece.
