Tsakane Festival Coaches Quotes

Cape Town City Coach Dylan Deane

After last week we had a great performance and this week we don’t apply ourselves properly but it is very strange to me because we had prepared very well and the intensity was good, but I also give credit to the opponents for the win today maybe it was the game plan for them to set deep in the counter attack although we had over enough of the ball position and chased the game in all but we just couldn’t get the goal.

We have young boys and most of our defenders are basically our middle fielder and that created a lot of imbalance in backline, the problem is that we don’t have natural defenders at the back which is always a challenge for us because we always have to shift players around .

The problem is the application of the defensive organisation and again I need strategize further to avoid such.

Baroka FC Coach Matsemela Thoka

I’m very happy with the boys performance it was good even but we still have a lot of work to do but we tried. Our main objective is to get enough points. That is the goal.

We are playing against Golden Arrows at home and we all know they are not easy to beat but we will match them and I think we play the same style as them which more attacking so we must make sure we beat them with counter attacks breaks.

Bidvest Wits Coach Glen Salmon

It would have been a fair result if it was a draw, we had more chances to scores but the final decision wasn’t there but im not happy with the loss.

We were losing the game, I could see how the opponent was playing and Sifiso he also had a chance of scoring and level the score but unfortunately he couldn’t hit the target.

They played a lot of long balls which was not good to watch but they were just playing a long ball which not dangerous. We had Sizwe Thwala right there on the left, he had the advantage but decided cross the ball to Sifiso Nkosi who decided to head it to the near post a metre wide which was unfortunate.

SuperSport United Coach Kwanele Kopo

I’m happy with the result, it was not greatest game, and the pitch is very bumpy so it made it very difficult to play in the midfield but luckily we were here before for a friendly so we knew about the condition we were coming to.

Considering how they were defending we had to adapt to it so we played the ball wide a lot of the time to try and go around them, but in the first half the quality for crosses was very poor, they were diabolical we couldn’t get one cross in, not one shot I mean the runs were not bad.

In the second half we corrected that a little bit we had one quality cross and we scored the goal, second half performance was better and I am happy except pitch conditions.

Overall to get 3 points is important coming from last season finishing last to being two points from the top at this moment. So we happy with the result.

Orlando Pirates Coach Rayaan Jacobs

Playing against Ajax was a battle, which shouldn’t been a battle, we took about 15 minutes to 20 minutes to start playing our game which is disappointing but we did get hold of the ball . We started to move it and opened them up and we were happy with that, but we can’t put ourselves under pressure until 90 minutes every week cause we did the same against Baroka FC and got punished last week, this week we managed to hang on a little bit but we had chances to make it to put the game to bed but I am happy we had good game and got good results.

Fradie Hlalele is important like all other players are important, he has good qualities, and he also has good speed that helps him to get behind. I’ll always be critical on the player, we expect a lot from him and he needs to learn how to convert the chances. When it’s time to make the final pass I always say this in the meeting if he wants to be the big player he needs to know when to take those opportunities.

Ajax Cape Town Coach Duncan Crowie

Losing is a part of the game, firstly I will admit they were a better team that played a beautiful game. Second half we had plan and we wanted to close them down forcing them to play short balls at the back and those short passes gave us a scoring opportunities and also got a penalty but didn’t utilize it however if the penalty went in it would have been a different story but it is football you have to take the good with the bad and that is important.

Second half we played a better game and I said in the first half they were a better team but im happy with match. We playing SuperSport United on our next game at home then we are on break so the most important thing is looking to lock positions but in this division we had a sixteen year old coming in the last minute or so, the purpose of MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) is to develop players.

Kaizer Chiefs Coach Arthur Zwane

To be honest I think we started off pretty well. We started off with two 17 year old boys and I think their play is much better because there are young boys whom are bound to crack but still learning. Overall I’m happy with their performance. When we got a red card we started managing the game much better, the winning control of the game then we went to halftime leading 2-0 till I told them that the game is in our hands because we have to consolidate and sometimes.

Unfortunately football is a pressure game whether you win or lose even worse if you’re playing for Kaizer Chiefs people will expect you to win or expect a better performance but people will always have something to say as long you know what you’re doing.

When it comes to development we have a lot of young boys and they played very well and most of this boys play in the under 23 but I think we were a better team by far we just gave it away because I told the keeper to give it away but unfortunately we became the loosing team so that the nature of the game.

This is development, I am not worried about changing but I believe in the team and next time they will get it right.

Mamelodi Sundowns Coach David Notoane

It was a good game, the one thing I always tell the players is to show character and show fighting spirit. I’m glad everyone came back with the spirit.

We didn’t impose ourselves in the 1st half, I warned them before the game that Chiefs brought in younger and very talented players, so if they’re going to look at it like that then we’re in trouble, and I think we fell into that trap psychologically, naturally that’s the nature of players.

They were on top of us, first to the ball, finished fast and we didn’t have answers and responded the way we were expected to, the younger ones didn’t realise they were playing Chiefs. We are a big club as well. Halftime I needed to give them a little bit of some thick skin so they could realise that this is Mamelodi Sundowns we are playing Kaizer Chiefs.

Winning always brings confidence, we’ve been at this stage before, we’re an efficient team in reconstruction, and our RDP project is a different one. We’re going to need performances like this without the first team players because they won’t be there all the time. But we know where we are and we need to do. We’ve won 10 games in a row, and if we’re willing to fight, tactically we could always influence things like we did today, but we’re not putting ourselves under too much pressure. We want to compete and defend, we’re under reconstruction, like every other RDP project, the money goes out and houses are not built, the communities complain but I’m not going to complain, I just want to pick up results.

Keletso Makgalwa brings impact and force into his attack, but there are no individuals we’re a team, it was our plan based on his medical diagnosis, he should have just played 20-30 minutes but when the situation is as it was, I have to buy the bullet and push him in, he responded to that and come back to give the team life which is very important. Which allowed us to create more and more opportunities, which will improve.
