Pirates release six players

Orlando Pirates have confirmed the departure of six players, with five of them having their contracts terminated by mutual consent, the club announced on Tuesday.

Maselealo Seanego, Sello Jaftha, Roger Majafa, Lindokuhle Mtshali and Donald Makondolela have all been released by the club, while young striker Siyanda Ngubo, at one stage viewed as a huge talent, has not had his contract renewed.

The departures are part of a purge by new coach Micho Sredojevic as he looks to cut the ‘dead wood’ from the squad.

None of the players being down the door have featured much for the club in the last few seasons, with Ngubo having spent the last two campaigns at National First Division side Royal Eagles.

Pirates open their new Absa Premiership season at home to Chippa United on Saturday.
