Sundowns and Modise part ways

Mamelodi Sundowns have officially announced they have parted ways with veteran creative midfielder Teko Modise after six years of service at Chloorkop.

Negotiations had been ongoing in an apparent bid to persuade Modise to remain at the club, but reports suggest the player is seeking more regular playing time in 2017/18.

As such, the 34-year-old has decided to leave the club and seek a new home elsewhere in the Premiership. It's not known at this stage who is favourite to land his services.

A club statement read: "Sundowns has decided to release Teko Modise from his contractual obligations in order for him to negotiate a good contract for himself at this stage of his football career.

"Sundowns is grateful to Teko for his many years of loyal service to the Club and wishes him everything of the very best.

"Teko played an important part in the two PSL titles and the Caf Championship as well as the Caf Super Cup which Sundowns won during the past season."
