Ngalo earns Aces victory over Stars

Eddie Ngalo's first-half goal earned Mpumalanga Black Aces a 1-0 victory over Free State Stars in an Absa Premiership clash played at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Saturday afternoon.

The victory took AmaZayoni to position four on the Absa Premiership standings, while Ea Lla Koto dropped down to 12 on the league table.

Zamuxolo Ngalo fired Aces into the lead with a good right-footed finish from Lindokuhle Mbatha's corner-kick just a minute into the game.

The visitors tried to respond with a goal in the 13th minute, but Stars captain Paulos Masehe placed his header over the crossbar from Nhlanhla Vilakazi's corner.

Stars defender Tshepo Mothiba was showed the first yellow card of the game on the half-hour mark as Aces searched for another goal.

AmaZayoni made the first change of the game on the stroke of halftime with Sibusiso Masina being replaced by Judas Moseamedi.

The home side stood firm as Ea Lla Koto threw caution to the wind in an effort to for an equalizer in the opening stages of the second-half.

In the 70th minute, Stars assistant coach Bradley Carnell made a double substitution introducing Sello Japhta and Makhehlene Makhaula for Mothiba and Mbuyiselo Thethani.

Nevertheless, Aces managed to contain Stars in the remaining minutes and the former walk away 1-0 winners on the day.
