Downs demolish Stars in Orkney

It was 1-1 at halftime and three minutes into the second half, Sandilands came out to stop Ngcobo’s attack after a wonderful through ball from Venter.

Three minutes to the hour mark, Keagan Dolly made it two for the visitors when Asavela Mbekile made a fantastic run down the right before making a pass to the oncoming Dolly on the d-line, who slotted it on the far post.

As they kept looking for more goals, a cross from Langerman allowed Castro to beat his marker in the box and Diakite with his second touch to make it three for the Brazilians.

With 15 minutes to go, a long ball from the back found Modise on the right who delivered a wonderful cross to pick out Billiat and the Zimbabwean netted with a diving header after Diakite had a touch on it to make it 4-1.

With Stars failing to close the Brazilians down, substitute Mogakolodi Ngele intercepted a long throw by Diakite and made a solo run to go and beat the keeper making it 5-1.

Solinas’ men continued to fight and they bagged their second when Venter turned provider when he delivered a cross on the right allowing Mashego to finish.
