Super-slick Chiefs down Aces

First half goals from Mandla Masango and Reneilwe Letsholonyane secured a 2-1 win for Kaizer Chiefs in an Absa Premiership encounter at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Wednesday evening.

Aubrey Ngoma's first goal for AmaZayoni cancelled out Masango's early strike before Yeye scored what proved to be the winner on the stroke of halftime.

Both coaches resisted any tinkering to their sides naming the same XI that took to the field against Bloemfontein Celtic and Free State Stars

Kaizer Chiefs opened the scoring through Masango who subsequently bagged his third goal against Amazayoni in the space of 10 days.

A great run and exquisite first touch saw him sneak in behind the Aces defensive line. Vincent Kobola tracked back well to intercept at the midfielders feet, but in a moment of confusion collided with his goalkeeper and consequently handed Masango a tap-in with 12 minutes on the clock.

Kingston Nkhatha almost instantly doubles the visitors lead, his effort rattling the underside of the bar.

Chiefs continued create the better of the chances with Masango coming close to grabbing his brace, sending his volley attempt just over the frame in the 28th minute.

It was Aces though who struck next through Aubrey Ngoma. Tendai Ndoro's flick-on fell into the path of the former AmaTuks winger who struck an unstoppable first time shot past a helpless Itumeleng Khune in the 42nd minute from an acute angle.

Aces joy though was short lived as Letholonyane restored parity for the Amakhosi on the cusp of halftime.

A neat move down the right-flank culminated in Masango playing in Yeye who hit a thunderbolt past Energy Murambadoro who was rooted to the spot.

Masango came within an inch of doubling his sides lead three minutes into the second half. Tsepo Masilela picked out the lively midfielder who's header hit the foot of the upright.

The goalmouth action continued to flow with George Maluleka guilty of squandering a string of chances towards the back end of the encounter.

The former SuperSport United midfielder was brilliantly denied by Murambadoro in the 75th minute before sending a header attempt wide of goal from point-blank range a minute later.

Stuart Baxter shut up shop in the closing minutes as the Glamour held on to go second on the league standings, only behind Moroka Swallows on goals scored.
