Komphela and Stars part ways

Free State Stars have parted ways with their coach Steve Komphela following their 2-0 league loss against Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday, the club announced.

"After four years of service the club Head Coach Steve Komphela has parted ways with the club following a gentlemen’s agreement," the club said in a statement on Sunday.

General Manager Rantsi Mokoena also confirmed Komphela's departure on the club's website.

“I can confirm that we have parted ways with coach Komphela and assistant coach Themba Sithole will take over the reign as the interim coach," he said.

"Komphela has served the club well with loyalty and it is sad that we had to part ways. As a club we wish Komphela the very best of luck in his endeavors,” concluded Mokoena.

Stars won only three and lost five in the eleven matches they've played this season under Komphela and are in position eleven on the log.
