Chippa face tough Swallows test

Chippa United will look to give themselves a lifeline in the Absa Premiership when they host Moroka Swallows at Philippi Stadium on Wednesday, kick-off at 19h30.

Chippa suffered a sixth successive loss when they were beaten 2-1 away to SuperSport United last week.

The Cape team has recorded three wins, five draws and four losses from 12 home matches so far this season.

The Chilli Boys are placed 16th on the Absa Premiership log with 16 points from 24 matches.

Swallows have gone four matches unbeaten in the league and draw 1-1 at home to Bidvest Wits in their last outing.

The Soweto side has recorded four wins, two draws and six defeats from their 12 away matches so far this season.

The Birds are placed seventh on the Absa Premiership log with 32 points from 24 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Chippa and Swallows have had just one previous league meeting.

That encounter took place earlier this season, with the teams playing to a 1-1 draw in Soweto. Chabangu netted for the Birds, while Siwahla replied for the Chilli Boys.
