Leopards take aim at Cosmos

PSL strugglers Black Leopards and Jomo Cosmos are gearing up for a crucial bottom-of-the-table Absa Premiership league encounter at the Giyani Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Kick-off at 19h30.

Lidoda Duvha, on the back of their promising 1-0 win over AmaZulu a week ago, want to build on from their victory and increase their tally of two wins for the season so far.

Cosmos on the other hand are struggling with form since their return to the elite division and as a result they are yet to win a match in eleven league outings.

Ezenkosi were recently thumped 2-0 by Golden Arrows.

The two sides are rooted at the bottom of the PSL standings with Leopards occupying the 15th position with 9 points and Cosmos 16th with only 4 points.

Leopards midfielder Khethokwakhe Masuku says the preparations for this game have been going smoothly and have been boosted by the victory over AmaZulu.

“The preparations are going well and the team has been spirited from the win against AmaZulu. So I believe we can go all out and win this one,” Masuku says confidently.

On the visitor’s side, midfielder Lebogang Pila said their preparations have also been going well: “We have been preparing for a while now; we want to go forward through rectifying our mistakes.

“We are going through a bad patch, shown by some poor results but our aim is to put it all on the line and go forward,” the 24-year-old former USA college player says.

Masuku meanwhile said that in order to win this game, Leopards just need to double the effort they put in against AmaZulu.

“All we need to do is put in twice as much effort than what we put in against AmaZulu.

We saw how much effort we put there and we got the result, so this time it will be about doubling the effort as we are playing at home. Cosmos will not make it any easier as they also need the points.

“There is no need to start worrying about relegation now as there are still 19 matches to play so it is too early to write us off now.”

Pila says from a Cosmos point of view it is important to forget about the past.

“We need to go there and put our bodies on the line and do what we do at training. We must forget about the previous results and focus on the task at hand, then we will achieve our goal.”
