Augustine Leonard has set his sights on continuing with the good form that propelled him into the national under-20 side by helping Moroka Swallows to a top three finish this season.

“We are looking forward to this season,” said Leonard. “I would like to see us move up the standing, hopefully finish in the top three. I feel we have a strong enough squad to challenge for honours this coming season.”

The Reiger Park- born striker has been away on national duty with the under-20 side earlier this month and feels that the experience of playing for Amajita, as the junior side is know, will put him in good stead to progress as a player.

“I feel much stronger now compared to last season and I want to score more goals,” said the 19 year-old. “Being with the national team has helped me a lot and prepared me for my second season in the Premier Soccer League.”

The Dube side will use this weekend’s Mangaung Cup in Botshabelo to see how far they have come as a side. Those were the words from the youngster who stressed the significance of such tournaments at this time of the year.

“We have had an intense pre-season thus far, so it will be interesting to see how far we have progressed as a side. Such tournaments are great for the team and they help us immensely in preparing for the grueling season ahead,” said the Amajita striker.

The revamped Botshabelo stadium will play host to the Old Mutual Mangaung Cup on Sunday. Moroka Swallows will tackle the home side Bloemfontein Celtic in the second semi-final. Ajax Cape Town and Free State Stars meet in the first semi.
