Black Aces are third on the Telkom Charity Cup voting poll and look set to play in the one-day tournament at Soccer City on August 7.
At the time of writing (9pm) Aces had 31 945 votes and last year’s winners Orlando Pirates sit in fourth place with 31 322. Kaizer Chiefs are second with 37 679 and Mamelodi Sundowns lead with 43 157.
“We are very surprised and very pleased to see that our supporters are doing this for us. People in Witbank are excited to see the players we have signed and excited about the future,” said Aces CEO Mark Grune.
Lehlohonolo Seema, Brice Aka, Marawaan Bantam and Joseph Henyekane are only four of the 15 players that the club has roped in for the 2010/11 season.
“We (management) have also done our part in promoting the club and working towards getting the team in the Charity Cup. I think competing in the Charity Cup will be good for the players and the people of Witbank.”
“The players themselves are voting and really want to play at Soccer City at this tournament. So we all are eagerly looking forward to it,” he said confidently.
The vote lines will close in nine days time.
