Lamontville Golden Arrows and Kaizer Chiefs will both be looking to notch up their first Absa Premiership win of 2010 when they clash in a league match to be played at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Tuesday evening.

Kick Off for the match is at 7:30pm and will be screened live on SuperSport 4 (Channel 204) on DSTV.

Arrows have made a losing start to 2010 as they were beaten in their two league matches this year, going down to KwaZulu-Natal rivals AmaZulu and Maritzburg United. If Arrows do not start winning matches the chances are they could finish outside of the top eight positions in the league and will not qualify for next season’s MTN8 competition.

Chiefs, like Arrows, have not won this year as yet. For Amakhosi it has been two draws, a 0-0 stalemate and a 2-2 result against Jomo Cosmos, which has put a dent in their title aspirations.

Should they still believe that they can win the title, Chiefs will need to win their remaining four matches of the season, starting by picking up three points against Arrows on Tuesday evening.

Arrows striker Richard Henyekane is not pleased with the fact that his team has lost their opening two league matches of 2010 and is looking to overturn those results against Chiefs.

“Obviously losing the past two games was not good for us. In spite of us playing well we ended up losing; we now have to treat these remaining games as cup finals and do whatever it takes to win them,” said Henyekane.

The fact that Arrows have not registered a league win against Chiefs at home since the 2002/03 season and lost the earlier fixture this season to them has got Henyekane fired up as he tries to lead them to their first home win over the Amakhosi in six seasons.

“It has been a very long time but I think that we are on the verge of changing that. This is a big fixture for us and we want to get back to winning ways and doing so against Chiefs will be great for us.

“We would like to finish in the top eight and would also want to defend our MTN8 title. It means that we must win all of our remaining four league games. That is the task facing us.”

After conceding a late goal and ending up drawing 2-2 with Jomo Cosmos this past weekend, Kaizer Chiefs need nothing less than a win against Golden Arrows.

Chiefs defender Thomas Sweswe is not pleased that his team dropped the points against Cosmos and believes that a stronger defensive performance against Arrows will help Chiefs register their first league victory of 2010.

“It was disappointing to drop the three points against Cosmos. We were affected in that game by the fact that play was stopped in the second half because of rain,” said Sweswe.

“I think we deserved victory in the last match and we were affected by the break in play because when we came back we did not play as well as we did before the rain stopped the match.”

According to Sweswe it is now all about winning on Tuesday evening and keeping up their good record of winning against Arrows in Durban.

“We are going to Durban with the mindset that we can win the game. We not undermining Arrows, who will be trying their best to push for a victory as they have also not been winning recently. We must believe that we can win the match.”
