The PSL sends it’s condolences to the family, friends and fans of AmaZulu FC defender Jan Masoeng Sillo who passed away tragically on Tuesday.

The attacking right-back was instrumental to AmaZulu’s top eight finish last season and in the new campaign Sillo started in two games for Usuthu.

He scored from the penalty spot when AmaZulu beat SuperSport United 4-3 in a penalty shootout in an MTN8 clash last Tuesday and this past Sunday his side played to a 2-2 draw against Bidvest Wits.

It is believed that Lombo – as Sillo was known – died in a car accident on Tuesday morning and this barely a year after the tragic passing of AmaZulu team-mate Siyabonga “Benni” Mkhwanazi.

“It’s always a sad day for the football family when we lose one of our players,” said PSL CEO, Kjetil Siem.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with all involved with AmaZulu FC and once again, our deepest sympathies to the friends and family of Jan Masoeng Sillo.”

Sillo, who started his professional career at Bloemfontein Young Tigers in 2003, is survived by his wife and one child.
