Sifiso Myeni is a happy man. For starters the former BIDVest Wits captain has recently been voted the Acer Player of the Month and secondly, he is part of a select group of players who have been named by Gordon Igesund to represent the country in the International Friendly matches between Poland and Kenya.
Myeni, who is effectively a new signing having signed in January with a leg injury, has started the 2012/13 campaign in amazing fashion. In less than ten matches for the Buccaneers, the 24-year old has already gotten off the mark – scoring an amazing left-footed goal against Ajax Cape Town last month. In less than ten matches, Myeni has already been named Man of the Match twice and has been very helpful in the assist department as well as was the case in the 3-1 victory over Pretoria University where he was the main orchestrator for both of Collins Mbesuma’s goals.
In an interview with Orlandopiratesfc.com recently, Myeni revealed that he is currently enjoying his football and is looking forward to his first experience with the national team.
“I am really looking forward to that experience. I am going into camp brimming with confidence following our (Pirates) good performance against Tuks,” said Myeni
“I am enjoying my game again,” he enthused. “I’ve been on the side lines for a long time and usually coming back from a lengthy injury is never easy because of both the mental and physical challenges a player faces - I’m fortunate enough to have overcome both.
“I believe my game is improving and it’s only a matter of time that I reach my full potential,” added Myeni.
Roger de Sa, who worked with Myeni at Wits believes the best is yet to come.
“I think he is not at his top level as yet,” said RDS. “I have worked with the lad at Wits and I know when he is at his best. He is doing the business for us at the moment but just wait until he is at his peak,” warned the coach.
“He is a player that can do wonders, especially on one-on-one situations.”
