Mamelodi Sundowns have dismissed reports that coach Johan Neeskens had been given an ultimatum to win this weekend's home game against Platinum Stars or risk getting the boot.

While the club has made it clear in recent weeks that the issue of the coach's tenure had never been discussed, and that speculation on this matter is baseless, there have been persistent reports on the coach facing the chop.

"The issue of the coach's position with the club is hypothetical as it has never been discussed. Sundowns wishes to record that reports that he is facing the chop are without foundation, and management has given the coach full support to pursue the objectives of the club," said General Manager Kenneth Makhanya and Head of Technical Trott Moloto in a statement.

"No ultimatum has been given to the coach, or anybody, and Mamelodi Sundowns is confident that the club will turn the corner. Clubs the world over go through rough patches, but come out much stronger," the statement says.
