Platinum Stars coach Cavin Johnson admits his side face a “must-win” game against fellow strugglers AmaZulu at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Dikwena are Usuthu fill the bottom two positions in the Absa Premiership table, but both are coming off fairly positive results in midweek.
Stars picked up a point away at University of Pretoria, while AmaZulu came from behind to defeat Moroka Swallows 2-1, their first win, and first goals, of the season.
Johnson says his side deserved more against AmaTuks though, believing the result did not match the performance, especially after his side had a strong penalty claim turned down and a goal disallowed to boot.
“I thought we should have won the game against AmaTuks,” Johnson told the club’s website. “The disallowed penalty and goal were very unfortunate, but aside from those we also missed two very good chances in the first half.
“We also did not allow them to create any clear-cut opportunities, so I thought it was a very good performance from us coming off three successive losses. We went there with the intention to win the game, but it was not to be.
“AmaZulu is a must-win game for us now, we know that. It is a home game and I believe that if we carry on in the same vein as we did against AmaTuks, we should get the three points. “We have been working a lot on our finishing and a little bit of tactical discipline, taking into account the way AmaZulu play. We have planned very well and we expect to get a good result.”
