The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has today released the opening fixtures for the National First Division (NFD) 2012/13 season.
The NFD fixtures will kick-off on 15 September 2012.
PSL General Manager of Football, Derek Blanckensee said: “I know that many NFD teams have been waiting for the start of the 2012/13 season with bated breath.
Blanckensee added: “Last season, we saw vast improvements in the football standard in the NFD and I have no doubt in my mind that this year will be even better. I believe the success of University of Pretoria and Chippa United – two clubs who were promoted to the Absa Premiership – will provide inspiration to all the teams.”
Due to the pending cases involving Dynamos FC, Carara Kicks FC and Bay United FC, fixtures involving these three teams have not been included. The teams will have to play catch-up matches as soon as their legal processes have been finalised.
The PSL will release the full NFD 2012/13 fixtures in due course.
Facts from Last season:
Total Goals: 613 goals over 240 games with an average of 2.6 goals per game.
Highest goal-scoring team: Vasco da Gama with 51 goals over 30 games at an average of 1.7 goals per game.
