Having helped Sivutsa Stars stay clear of relegation last season, the 2012/ 2013 campaign will see MacDonald Makhubedu in the Jomo Cosmos camp.
Makhubedu has been brought in to assist Ezenkosi in their scouting operations and to be an advisory to the technical team, affording him the chance to operate alongside one of the legends of South African football.
“I’m not there to be the assistant coach (as reported in certain media), but I’ll be the club’s chief scout and will also work on the technical team.
“Its an exciting move for me, a dream come true. I’ve always been admired Jomo Sono and now this is a wonderful opportunity for me to work with and learn from the game’s best.
“I’ve always been associated with Cosmos, since a youngster, so it was an easy move for me. At Sivusta they used to ask me where my loyalties lay, but I can say that as a professional, they were at Stars while I was there,” he told PSL.co.za.
The Bushbuckridge-born Makhubedu was the coach responsible for earning Sivutsa promotion to the National First Division following the Second Division play-offs of 2010/ 2011.
But his first season in the NFD proved to be a testing one as he endured several stints demoted to assistant coach as the club went through a series of head coaches.
But Makhubedu points out that his individual record in charge of the team was a good one.
“I did wonders for the team last season. Of the 34 points Stars earned, I got 29 of those points.
“It was a tough season, but a good experience. The knowledge gained from playing in the First Division will now be able me to assist Cosmos as they compete in that same league.”
