Big-spending Mamelodi Sundowns have beaten Bidvest Wits to the signature of Eleazar Rodgers, who joins the Brazilians on a four-year deal, the club said on Thursday.
Following the relegation of Santos, the striker has been linked to a number of Gauteng teams, among them Kaizer Chiefs and Bidvest Wits. Speaking to SuperSport.com, the Sundowns communications co-ordinator, Thulani Thuswa, confirmed the deal and added that the player is ready for the test.
“I can confirm the deal was completed today and I spoke to the player. He is excited about the challenge that awaits him. He said he knows very well that he will not walk straight into the starting lineup and he will work hard to earn his place” Thuswa said.
Rogers will not be part of Sundowns’ pre-season camp in Swaziland as he has been given off until the 20th, when everyone reports for training.
