The worst kept secret at Naturena was revealed today when Amakhosi confirmed the signing of Morgan Gould.

The SuperSport United skipper will be joining Kaizer Chiefs on a four-year deal, according to a statement from the club.

Gould led SuperSport to a triumphant Nedbank Cup final where United beat Tshwane rivals and neighbours, Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0. It was probably an apt farewell to a man who had served SuperSport for the past few seasons with distinction.

Kaizer Chiefs Football Manager, Bobby Motaung said: “We are delighted we have acquired the services of Morgan Gould. His ability to read the game, his interception, height, heading and jumping ability and the knack of scoring important goals makes him one of the best defenders in the country.

“Morgan as a regular in the national team and a captain at SuperSport United brings more than just play but also leadership to the team. “

Gould becomes the second Bafana Bafana regular to join the Glamour Boys following the announcement that the club had acquired the services of Siboniso Gaxa.

On Saturday, Gould’s former coach, Gavin Hunt gave a hint that he might lose his skipper. The SuperSport coach said he will be going to the transfer market to find another defender.

SuperSport are also likely to lose another defender to one of the big clubs in the country, according to Hunt.
