Jomo Cosmos winger Matthew Rusike has vowed that they will make a quick comeback to the Premier Division.
This is after Cosmos were relegated to the National First Division following their 2-2 .
“The NFD is tough, but if we can keep the main part of the squad, I don’t see why we can’t bounce straight back,” said Rusike.
“We’ve done it before, so hopefully that will give us a good chance. Obviously a lot has changed since we were last there, but I strongly believe we have enough in our squad to get back to the PSL.
“We’ve got to make sure we don’t get any ‘last-season blues’ when we start again in August and get a good start.”
Boss Jomo Sono has only taken just two wins from 29 matches played in the regular season, but the Zimbabwean under-23 international believes Sono can usher them back to the Absa Premiership.
“He has done before, I’m sure we can bounce back up,” he said. “From the outside it doesn’t look as if he’s done too well, but from the inside, he’s done a really good job. He said we’ve got to bounce back next season and he believes in us and I’m sure we’ll get it done.”
“A lot of people probably have written us off this time around, but even last season nobody gave a chance to win promotion but we did. All we have to do now is stay positive and work towards bringing the side back where it rightfully belongs.”
The last match of the season for the relegated side will be an away match against Santos on Saturday at the Athlone stadium. The Peoples Team requires maximum points and hope that their Cape Town neighbours, Ajax Cape Town can beat Black Leopards in their Absa Premiership fixture at the Peter Mokaba stadium on the same day.
