Platinum Stars midfielder Joseph Molangoane grabbed his chance last night and made a huge impression in their 4-1 victory over struggling Jomo Cosmos at the Royal Bafokeng last night.
Molangoane was one of the catalyst in the third and fourth goals to ensure that the home side was in the driving seat after Ezenkosi showed signs of a comeback In the last ten minutes of the game.
“The game went well and the plan was to score as many goals as possible in the first half and win the match in the first 45 minutes so that we would not put ourselves under pressure .We scored two goals before the break but things became a bit difficult after they pulled one back to reduce the deficit.
“I’m impressed with the way we handled the pressure and came back strongly to score two more goals and make it four by the end of the match.”
Following his recent absence on the starting eleven, the Alexandra-born player said he took his rare chance with both hands.
“Well, I haven’t played in a while so I told myself that I had to play well and be consistent with my performances until the season ends, and hopefully become an even better player next season.”
Despite their comfortable triumph on the night, Dikwena’s position on the standings does not change and still occupy 10th, leaving them just four points adrift of the top eight.
However, all is not lost in Molangoane’s view who believes that they still have a chance and so much can change in the last few weeks of the season.
“We should win the remaining games and perhaps we can sneak into the top eight. That’s the team’s main objective because we haven’t finished in the top eight in the previous three years. It’s been a while since we have had a good finish and be a team to be reckoned with. “
“We hope to compete for the league title in the future.” He added.
